When an abnormality in the breasts is detected, tissue diagnosis (biopsy) is needed to exclude cancer. Biopsy techniques such as FNA (fine needle aspiration), core biopsy, or vacuum-assisted core biopsies are performed by our highly skilled specialists, using ultrasound or stereotactic imaging guidance.

Several other highly specialised procedures may be requested by breast specialists including V-marker placement and guidewire insertions to assist surgeons and oncologists.
MRI
Breast Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) is an imaging modality used on selected women. This is performed off-site at the Netcare Parklane Hospital, to which we are linked remotely, and scans can be interpreted in conjunction with the woman’s clinical, mammogram and ultrasound studies.
